Matting Borders

Matting borders around photographs

The use of matting borders around photographs is a great for wall pictures. Multiple colors are available to choose from at art supply stores and on the internet.

They can be double-layered and beveled, with a blending of complimentary tones to make the photo stand out. Picking out the colors should help highlight the image, not compete with it.

A mounting white foam back-board can support the photograph; acid free artist tape will not harm the mats and photos as they are permanently positioned for framing.

The art supply store may photograph your image and transfer it to computer to visualize mat selection and sizing of the proper opening of its border. An artist’s double-sided adhesive tape is useful for hand mounting the backings, and a fine-nosed dental hemostat saves much time in peeling off the second layer.

Custom & preformed frames abound.
